 E-JOURNALS

An electronic journal is a periodical publication which is published in electronic format, usually on the Internet. Electronic journals have several advantages over traditional printed journals: You can search the contents pages and/or the full text of journals to find articles on a certain subject. You can read journal articles on your desktop, you don't have to be in the Library. You can e-mail articles to yourself or download them for printing. The article that you want to read will always be available, even when the Library is closed. Hypertext links allow you to move to different sections within individual journals or articles and can link you to related resources on the Internet. Journals can include more images and audio-visual material. Journals can be interactive - you can e-mail the author or editor with your comments. Many electronic journals which are available are electronic versions of journals which exist in print. Some journals are only available in electronic format and although some of these journals are of a high "academic" quality, please be aware that not all of them have gone through the same process of academic peer review as traditional print journals.

DIGITAL LIBRARY
A digital library is a collection of digital documents or objects. This definition is the dominant perception of many people of today. Nevertheless, Smith (2001) defined a digital library as an organized and focused collection of digital objects, including text, images, video and audio, with the methods of access and retrieval and for the selection, creation, organization, maintenance and sharing of collection. Though the focus of this definition is on the document collection, it stresses the fact that the digital libraries are much more than a random assembly of digital objects. They retain the several qualities of traditional libraries such as a defined community of users, focused collections, long-term availability, the possibility of selecting, organizing, preserving and sharing resources. The digital libraries are sometimes perceived as institutions, though this is not as dominant as the previous definition. The following definition given by the Digital Library Federation (DLF) brings out the essence of this perception. “Digital Libraries are organization that provide the resources, including the specialized staff to select, structure, offer intellectual access to interpret, 3 distribute, preserve the integrity of and ensure the persistence over time of collections of digital works so that they are readily and economically available for use by a defined community or set of communities.”

 E-GOVERNANCE
The term 'Governance' is wider than 'Government'. Governance may be an activity of governing/controlling a country by its Government, controlling of an organization or a company by its CEO or Board of Directors or controlling of a house hold by the head of the house, Accordingly E-governance may also involve governing of a country, organization, company or a household, however with the help of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).But when we talk of E-Governance in the popular parlance we only refer to the governing of a Country/State using ICT. E-governance therefore means the application of ICT to transform the efficiency, effectiveness, transparency and accountability of exchange of information and transaction: between Governments, between Government agencies, between Government and Citizens between Government and businesses E-governance also aims to empower people through giving them access to information

E-LEARNING CONTENT DEVELOPMENT

e- Learning Content Development can range from simply posting PowerPoint decks with audio into a Learning Management System to a complex and custom interactive multimedia experience.  The content development approach that you take will be based upon the quality and complexity of the eLearning you wish to create. For example, you can use a tool like Articulate Presenter to quickly convert a PowerPoint file into an online eLearning course within minutes.  Spend a little extra time and you can add audio narration, quizzes, and other interactive items to your course.  However, unless you are a professional-level voice talent with a decent sound studio and you are a professional graphic artist with a great eye for design, your course may not look and sound as great as courses developed by skill professionals in each area of eLearning content development.
